Joinco is an International Sourcing and Trading company specialized in delivering “door to door” solutions to retailers for Food and Non-Food products. We offer tailored solutions for Supplier Sourcing, Marketing, Brand and Category Management, Quality Assurance and Logistics, aligning our services with the particular needs of our clients.
Joinco was founded in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 10th, 2005, as spin-off of the International Trade arm of the main Portuguese retailer, Grupo Jerónimo Martins.
With head offices in Lisbon and offices across the world, Joinco provides the benefit of close presence, cultural knowledge and up-to-date market information.
The history of the company has been a permanent seizing of opportunities: after the early days in Lisbon and following the installation of its main client in Poland, Joinco opened, in May 2010, a branch in Warsaw – Poland, converted on Joinco Polska company in February 2013.
Again, in June 2013, with the start of the retail activities in Colombia, Joinco began selling into this market.
Being China the main supplying market, Joinco has a base in this region, in Shunde-Guangdong, giving full commercial support to the sourcing activities.
Covering different geographies, Joinco has an experienced and very stable team of 30 commercial traders, with a wide and long experience in international negotiation and a close monitoring of business execution, duly supported by financial, administrative and logistic divisions.
Working for a client of nearly 20 billion Euros in annual revenue, Joinco selects the best suppliers and works with all service providers in the foreign trade chain, with strict compliance with the regulatory environment.
Joinco manages all aspects of the supply chain, supplying around 4200 retail stores across Europe and South America on an exclusive cooperation basis, combining several orders to achieve the best buying prices.
The work in several markets gives Joinco a permanent exchange of different experiences, which is continuously shared with its partners.
Joinco’s executives travel on a permanent basis to the most important fairs, especially in Europe and Far East, to be closer to the sources of supply and permanently updated with the market evolution.
It is Joinco’s intention to keep expanding the activities in other markets, focused on selling to retail and distribution companies, using the expertise acquired along all these years.

Joinco was the former International Sourcing Department of Jerónimo Martins Group, that was spined-off and became an independent company. Our team is a mix of experience and youth, combining several backgrounds but with a distinctly commercial spirit, focusing on Non-Food and Food Retail.

PAULO CUNHA - Chairman
With a degree in Law from the Universidade de Lisboa (1964), Mr. Paulo Cunha has fifty years of experience in international trade, thirty of them in the Jerónimo Martins Group (JM).
In 1991, he was invited to assume the position of International Sourcing Director. In this function, he not only negotiated and executed import contracts for food and non-food products, but also contracts with the main national suppliers of non-food products.
In 2005, following a policy of outsourcing of the JM Group in more specialized areas, he was asked to set up a trading company, Joinco, with the purpose of supplying the group with non-food products.
Joinco has followed the growth of the JM Group, expanding its areas of operation and having currently a physical presence in Portugal, Poland, Colombia and China.
PEDRO CUNHA - Partner
Pedro Cunha has a degree in Banking Management (Universidade Internacional de Lisboa, 1995), a Category Management Course (Lyon, 1998) and an Advanced Management Program for Executives (Universidade Católica, 2001).
He began his career at the Jerónimo Martins Group in 1996 as National Purchaser for Cash & Carry Recheio, later becoming an Assistant Manager three years later in Setúbal. After this, he was promoted to Cash & Carry Manager in Barreiro for one year. Then, he took over Cash Management in Fogueteiro and, after that, led Cash & Carries in Abóboda and Regedor and in Madeira.
Pedro Cunha is a Partner of Joinco since its foundation in 2005, and presently he is the CEO of the company.
